October 28–29 in Milan: our CTO’s talk on API-first security, two challenges, and a ticket to Web Summit Lisbon up for grabs

On October 28 and 29 we'll be at Codemotion Milan with our booth. It's one of the most important events of the year for us: two days when the Italian developer community comes together to talk about AI, cloud, software architecture, and everything that's changing the way digital products are built.
You'll find us at the Openapi booth [booth no. / hall], at [event venue]. Our team will be there to show you how our APIs work, answer your questions, and talk through the projects you're working on. If you're looking for a simpler way to integrate official data and services into your software, this is the perfect time to stop by.
Wednesday, October 28, 1:00 pm to 1:15 pm, Stage VI
Is your user really who they say they are? Is the phone number real, the email reliable, does the company actually exist? The security of a digital project goes far beyond login and password, and that's where the talk by our CTO, Simone Desantis, begins.
In fifteen minutes, we'll look at how to build an API-first security layer that follows users and companies across the entire funnel, from sign-up all the way to signing a contract or completing a purchase. The journey starts with identity verification, using document analysis, face recognition, and liveness detection. It then moves on to email, phone, IP, and URL checks, and to KYC and KYB processes with official data and screening against sanction lists, PEP, and adverse media. Finally, it covers protecting transactions with SMS OTP and electronic signatures.
The approach is hands-on, built around REST APIs, integration examples, and real-world flows, with a look at the trade-offs between security, compliance, and user experience. The goal is to show you how to add a complete security layer to your project, one API at a time, without building everything from scratch.
This year we've prepared two challenges, designed to put your skills to the test and have some fun.
October 28: Openapi Developer Challenge
A quiz for developers to test their technical knowledge. The highest scorer wins a ticket to Web Summit Lisbon, one of the most important tech events in the world, where we'll also be exhibiting with our booth. [time]
October 28 and 29: Nintendo Challenge
Throughout the event, a Nintendo challenge awaits you at our booth. Play, climb the leaderboard, and go for the top score: there's a prize for whoever finishes in first place.
One talk, two challenges, and plenty of chances to connect with fellow developers: we can't wait to meet you in person. Stop by our booth, even just to say hi.
Will you be there?
