Electronic Receipt

If until recently managing numerous bureaucratic tax procedures was complicated and time-consuming, today many things have changed thanks to new digital systems that help speed up and streamline various processes. Openapi’s APIs, in particular, allow for simplified management of operations such as sending electronic receipts to the Italian Revenue Agency and issuing electronic invoices.

This is the case with Invoice, the new API by Openapi that includes Electronic Receipt, an exclusive service dedicated to managing receipts. Soon, invoicing solutions will be added to the API, designed not only for Italy but also for Europe and the global market.

Let's take a closer look at what the Electronic Receipt service offers.

Electronic Receipt via API: what it is

As we explained in a previous article, since January 1, 2022, electronic receipts have permanently replaced paper receipts and fiscal receipts. For retailers and similar businesses, it has become mandatory to store and electronically transmit sales data to the Italian Revenue Agency.

As a result, after the introduction of electronic receipts, keeping a sales register or storing paper copies of commercial documents issued to customers is no longer necessary, as was previously required with fiscal receipts. This results in significant time and resource savings, improving operational efficiency.

Openapi’s new service, part of the Invoice API, not only allows for the secure and fast transmission of fiscal receipts to the Italian Revenue Agency (Fatture e Corrispettivi) but also enables modifying and canceling one or more receipts via API.

The API solution has no fixed subscription fee, and pricing per transaction starts at just €0.009.

Electronic Receipt via API: Key Features

Electronic Receipt is designed to meet all customer needs, specifically allowing you to:

  • Send commercial documents online
  • Process cancellations and returns
  • Apply discounts
  • Manage the acceptance of various payment methods, such as meal vouchers or cash

Each receipt is transmitted in real-time and monitored until confirmation from the Italian Revenue Agency.

The platform integrates seamlessly with business management software, ensuring full compliance with current regulations and simplified management of tax documents.

Additionally, through the Business Registry Configuration feature, it is possible to configure and manage receipt issuance for multiple companies.

Invoice API & Electronic Receipt: Benefits

Using the Invoice API comes with several advantages:

  • Process simplification: The API automates and simplifies the process of sending electronic receipts to the Italian Revenue Agency, even for multiple businesses at once. It also streamlines procedures for modifications, cancellations, and returns
  • Tax compliance: Every operation is performed in full compliance with tax regulations, significantly reducing the risk of errors and penalties
  • International expansion: The Invoice API is not just for the Italian market but is designed for European and global use. Soon, it will also support electronic invoicing for businesses operating internationally
  • Speed & efficiency: Openapi helps businesses save time and resources—no more spending hours on manual receipt management, as the process is accelerated and optimized through API integration
  • Flexible integration: The services adapt to any business’s needs, allowing companies to issue receipts without disrupting their existing processes
