Openapi is the only platform that allows more than 15 different types of digital signatures to be requested via API, including signatures with physical devices (e.g. USB and smart cards), qualified electronic signatures, devices with or without CNSs, and video recognition identification possibilities.

Additionally, Openapi offers the possibility to choose from various Certification Authorities such as InfoCert or Aruba, without any minimum purchase commitment or obligations towards specific brands.

At the same time, with the API Digital Signature you can request other types of signatures such as simple electronic signatures (with OTP) and qualified signatures.

InfoCert Digital Signature Kit

The Digital Signature Kit is InfoCert's complete solution, designed for everyone who uses the digital signature with a PC from a fixed workstation. It includes:

  • Smart Card in credit card format (ISO CR-80)
  • Digital Signature Smart Card Reader
  • Signature certificate (valid for three years, renewable)
  • Authentication certificate or CNS (valid for three years, renewable)

There are two versions of the Digital Signature Kit:

  • With Smart Card with CNS (National Service Card) certificate
  • With Smart Card with non-CNS authentication certificate

Thanks to the CNS certificate, it is possible to access all public administration portals in seconds and securely.

With the Digital Signature Kit, you can sign any electronic document: for example, financial statements and corporate acts, invoices, notifications, forms for registration in public records, contracts.

As mentioned above, Openapi offers a wide range of digital signatures. To check all the devices available through the Digital Signature API, and their respective prices, you need to make an API request to the endpoint /prodotti.

Response Signature List and Codes

GET /prodotti

The response includes the complete list of all available signatures with name, type (e.g., InfoCert or Aruba), code, and price. This list does not contain electronic signatures not belonging to the Digital Signatures category (e.g., Simple Electronic Signature), for which there are dedicated endpoints. For some products, it will also be indicated if it is a "virgin" signature, in which case signature certificates are not issued.

In the case of the Digital Signature Kit, multiple codes will be present depending on the presence of the CNS Certificate.

  • KIT for the Digital Signature
  • KITCNS for the Digital Signature with CNS

Request Digital Signature Kit

POST/richiesta/{codice_prodotto}

To proceed with the kit request, you need to make a request to the endpoint POST/richiesta/{codice_prodotto}. In this case, it is the Digital Signature Kit with CNS, and the product code is KITCNS.

In the request payload, you need to pass a series of information about the applicant. These data depend on the type of device selected; in the case of the Digital Signature Kit (with or without CNS), they are:

  • Name and Surname
  • Email and Mobile Phone
  • Date, Municipality, Province, and Country of Birth
  • Residential Address
  • Tax Code
  • Shipping Address
  • Type, number, issue date, and expiration date of the document

For the Digital Signature Kit, you can also select one or more options:

Response Digital Signature Kit

POST/richiesta/{codice_prodotto}

The response contains all the information and the request ID, for example, in our case, it will be 5f7ef1e83a716836d3152662. The request ID is essential because it allows us to check the status of the request, download and possibly send the registration form of the Signature.

The form can be downloaded via the endpoint GET/richiesta/{id}/modulo .

Request Completion

In order for the certificates to be issued and the device to be processed, it is necessary for the requester to complete the identification process.

This can be done in various ways. If the applicant:

  • Has a valid digital signature, the form can be digitally signed and sent via the endpoint PATCH /request/{id} where obviously the id is the one obtained previously
  • Does not have a digital signature, the form must be completed, signature authenticated by a public official, and sent by registered mail along with an identity document

You can check the status of the signature fulfillment at any time through the endpoint GET/richiesta/{id}.

In the response, when the status has changed to processed, it will be possible to access the tracking code of the shipment, the envelope number and the device identification number. The signature activation data (Emergency Code, PIN, PUK) will instead be, according to regulations, sent directly to the applicant's email via virtual envelope (PDF) by the InfoCert Certification Authority.

Through the API Digital Signature, you can also request "Virgin" Smart Cards. This is the case, for example, of RAO customers who can directly issue signature certificates themselves and need to purchase only batches of devices (CNS).

The service allows you to request via API the Digital Signature Kit InfoCert, including Reader, Smart Card, Subscription Certificate and the possibility to choose the CNS Card.

This signature has the same legal value as a handwritten signature, and is often used to sign contracts, authorisations and other official documents remotely.

Openapi also offers the possibility to choose the video option during recognition, which can be done conveniently online, wherever you are. For the purpose of issuing the signature, the applicant is obliged by law to carry out the recognition procedure for identity verification and, thanks to the video mode, saves time and money. In fact, everything is done digitally and it is no longer necessary to physically go to a public official or to purchase a revenue stamp and send the original documentation by registered post.

What types of digital signatures can I request through Openapi?

The Digital Signature Kit InfoCert includes:

  • Credit Card size Smart Card (ISO CR-80)
  • Desktop Smart Card reader with USB cable
  • Signature certificate (validity three years)
  • Authentication certificate (valid for three years)

PLEASE NOTE: The Smart Card included in the Kit is available both with and without a CNS (National Services Card) certificate.

What does the Digital Signature Kit InfoCert include?

Yes, the digital signature has full legal value. It is recognised as equivalent to the handwritten signature in many legal systems, including the European Union. In Italy it is regulated by the Digital Administration Code (CAD) and in Europe by the eIDAS regulation.
Thanks to the digital signature, the authenticity, integrity and non-repudiation of the document is guaranteed, which thus becomes legally valid and indisputable.
